What is Symmetrical Drumming

It's rapid and easy to adapt to this expanded layout...and easy to move from conventional to symmetrical and back again.

Kit drumming is a multi-instrumental feat!

Laying out all those instruments is the 'thing'. There are millions of querky setups...but most have a 'side' bias.

Symmetrical drumming brings a little science to the the issue.  Its an ergonomic layout of the drumkit tomtoms, cymbals and sounds ...all the drummer's (or  percussionist's) instruments are equally laid out to their left and to their right equally.

The drummer is positioned in the middle of the instrument .

A conventional  drumkit is asymmetrical. It favours the left or the right side of the drummer percussionist. The player sits off to one side.

A symmetrical layout (with hihat in middle directly in front of player) is easier on the body and the brain. See picture of Mark's 'daily kit' above.
